Also during the winter we are really busy and try to finish as many points as possible from our todo-list: We buy charts and nautical literature, radio equipment, prepare our on-board computer (a Raspberry Pi), purchase other parts and sew new pillowcases. Besides, we move from our flat in the 9th district of Vienna to Meidling, where we are allowed to live in the flat of Jaqueline’s brother for a few months. During that we sort all our things and store most of them at our parents’. Additionally, we both acquire ham radio licences (Jaqueline aces the exam, I just get a 1-2 on the technical part…). Our call signs are OE1UJW (Jaqueline) and OE1UMW (Mischa).

with the help of my mother, we sew new pillowcases

…16 of them!

Moving in Vienna…

…with all our stuff!

We are a little worried about the lows “Christian” and “Xaver”, which are causing a lot of damage in Northern Europe, but our friends from Varel calm us down. Only our canvas does not survive the storms, but our neighbors store the pieces in our cockpit.

Apart from that we buy a lot of equipment, prepare important documents, talk to doctors, terminate a lot of contratcs and plan our farewell party. Jaqueline is still working full-time and is therefore really busy. I’m working part-time for BOKU, and still struggling with my master thesis which has to be finished before our departure.

      Lg Mischa

  3. Liebe Jaqueline, lieber Mischa!

    Alles Gute,
    Bernd
